• How to do a System Restore in Windows XP

    This article will show you how to use system restore to restore your computer to an earlier restore point.

    To use system restore, follow the following steps:

    1) Click on Start

    2) Choose All Programs

    3) Click on "Accessories"

    4) Click on "System Tools"

    5) You should see the "System Restore" menu option there. Click on that.

    6) Select "Restore my computer to an earlier time", hit NEXT

    7) You should now be on the "Select a Restore Point" page. Use the calendar to select the system restore point you would like to restore your system to.

    8) Confirm all your choices on the "Confirm Restore Point Selection" page.

    9) Close any open programs before proceeding

    10) Click on "Next" to proceed with the System Restore. Use "Back" to change any of your decisions.

    11) At this point, your computer should reboot automatically and execute the system restoration process. You should see the "Restoration Complete" page when it is done.

    12) If you need to undo the system restore, go back to the System Restore menu and select "Undo my last restoration"

    Note: Some users attempt to restore their systems to an earlier point after becoming victim to a malware/spyware attack. This is not always recommended, as many types of malware copy themselves into earlier system restore points, and will just re-appear once you have restored your system.
