Need to boot windows XP in safe mode?

    Follow the following steps:
    1) Restart your computer, either through the START menu (Preferred) or just by shutting it off and on. To force the computer to shut off, press the power button and hold it for a few seconds.

    2) As the computer is starting, tap the F8 button. This should be done as the computer is restarting but before windows launches. If Windows Launches without going to the safemode menu, restart the computer and try again.

    3) Use the arrow keys to select the appropriate safe mode you need. Usually it will be just "Safe Mode", but you can also choose "Safe Mode with Networking" for Network Connectivity, or safe mode with Command Prompt to get to the command prompt rather then the graphical interface.

When in safe mode, you will have access to basic drivers (monitor, mouse, keyboard etc) and files. This is sometimes required to troubleshoot or diagnose, or to remove malware.
