• To become a YouTube Partner and access promotional and skill-building opportunities, you must have at least one video approved for monetization

Recently, many members have emailed us asking for help, disappointed and confused regarding changes to the YouTube Partner Program.

If you tried applying for the YouTube Partner program before and got denied, and recently you have tried to apply again at http://www.youtube.com/partners, you might have noticed that it looks different.

      "YouTube Partner Program
The YouTube Partner Program provides creators with resources and opportunities to improve their skills, build larger audiences, and earnmore money. Membership is free.
As a YouTube Partner you will join a global community that includes members ranging from musicians to filmmakers, comedians to athletes, and more. Getting started is quick and easy."

When you click on "Getting Started", expecting to see the YouTube partner form, instead you get this screen:

And not the Youtube partner application form. It says "Confirmation: Congratulations! Your account is now enabled for monetization.", and "To become a YouTube Partner and access promotional and skill-building opportunities, you must have at least one video approved for monetization. Learn more.", even though you might have lots of videos already monetized. The only options shown on this screen are:

      Start monetizing your videos
      Review Guidelines
      Review or change AdSense association
      Review Terms of Service

So apparently, no link to access the YouTube Partner Application form.

What's going on, is that recently YouTube made a big change. EVERYONE who has at least one video monetized is now considered a partner. Some members who applied just a few days ago, between the beginning of April and April 12, might have even gotten an email welcoming them to the partner program and congratulating them. But, if you are really a full partner, where are the custom thumbnails and banners and other features that a full partner has? Where are all the branding features?

In the YouTube Blog, YouTube addressed these changes. They want to make partner features accessible to anyone. The thumbnails and banners will also be made available, in the near future, according to the blog.

So best thing is to be patient and see how this unfolds. Hopefully, in the near future, all partners will have access to the full array of features offered by the Partner Program, including all branding benefits such as the thumbnail and subscribe banner.
